Love God with All Your Being
Love and Minister to Your Family
Love Your Neighbor
It is the responsibility of the one called to minister to the lost souls of the world; giving the truths of life from the Word, while forgoing self interest to be the teacher and sharer of the message God has given us to share. I believe that being a minister is not just a job, but a true call from the One who created us. I believe that there is no power in ourselves that can accomplish anything and that it all rest on God to call us; to give us the confidence and power needed to fulfill the purpose He has planned for us. This is all hinged on our faith and obedience to His call; He Word; and the Holy Spirits direction. My calling must be true or I limit the power He commands. II Peter 1:3 tells us, “3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness” (NIV).
I believe that as a minister and follower of Jesus Christ we should maintain our personal spiritual hygiene in being “holy, because the one who called us is holy.” Holiness is the standard set by the blood of Christ and our call revolves around His gracious act of redemption for us. My reflection should be the reflection of Christ likeness in my own life; shown and lived for others to see. "I must watch my example, because others always watch my example" (DWChing 2003).
I Timothy 4: 12-16 tells us, “12 Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. 14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you. 15 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. 16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers” (NIV).
As a minister, pastor, teacher, sharer, we have been given the truest example to follow in that of Jesus through His ministry here on earth. He humbled His self before God and man to show the true nature of His calling for the purpose of the Father. We therefore, must humble ourselves in the same manner. After Jesus asked Peter three times did he love Him; He then said following each answer, “Feed my lambs, take care of my sheep, feed my sheep” (John 21:15-17). This order was not solely for Peter and has been forwarded on to each of us called to ministry. Take care of His people. To do this we must learn that leading is also serving. That loving is also giving. That sharing is also teaching. That the servant-leader we are called to be must humble ourselves before God and allow the Holy Spirits indwelling to pour out our love for God and His love for us in “taking care of His sheep.”
Our walking orders are to “Go Make Disciples in the nations.” It is not just a motto for us as a denomination; it is a command from God to those who are called. Matthew 28:19 tells us, “19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (NIV). This order does not mean, just in our own familiar area or within our circle of friends. This call means what it says, “in the nations,” which means throughout the world and it is our responsibility to be the tool He uses to motivate those we lead in reaching out to a lost and dying world. Our support and promotion of evangelism within the church we lead and outside the church we lead is desired of God.
Throughout all the chaos in this life we live on earth, God is the authority by which organization builds. It is my duty, honor, and responsibility to follow God’s path through the guidebook He left for us, which is His Word (The Bible) and allow the Holy Spirit to work through and throughout me for His purposes. As He organizes my life, this reflection should be seen by others and shared so that others may be spared the fires of hell. I believe I should have the conduct and behavior that is becoming of Christ example in accordance to the Word. I believe that this framework of God is the framework He molds to reach the lost and dying people of this world. Through those whom He has called, He pours out Himself. We are just the pitcher, which holds the fluid of His life.
I believe that ministry first begins within our homes, to our family. I believe that if one loses their family, they will in turn lose their ministry. You cannot be one person with your family and another to the church or the world, because no matter what; others are always watching to see your example. How can a person live a holy life when their home is not holy? I do not believe they can; therefore, it behooves us to minister to our family and set the president within the home as well as outside it.
Personal Mission Statement:
What I believe, I will not force you to believe: this is your choice. I believe that God is the creator of all things known to man or made by man. I believe that God sent His Only Son Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for each of us and for our sins. I believe that on the third day he arose from the grave. I believe that Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us in heaven and is coming back one day to take us home. I believe in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
What I ask is that you read your Bible daily. As you read and study God's Word, I ask that you apply the principles of The Word to your life. If you apply these principles in your life, you will become healthier, happier and your attitude will change for the better. You will see the world a lot different through the eyes of God than you have ever seen before. And in the end, you will find the One you have been long searching for. That is all I ask of you and this is what I believe.
My mission is to get the Word of God and the truth of what Jesus did for all of us out to all people through witnessing, public speaking, Bible study gatherings, church involvement, and other outreach activities. However, my main objective is to Set the Example in “speech, faith, love, life, and in purity” (I Timothy 4, NIV), to reveal a life patterned after Christ.
My Motto is: "I must watch my example, because others ALWAYS watch my example." It is what I strive to live by in all aspects of my life.
Administration:
Although the laws of God are not involved with the laws of the land; the laws of the land must be followed as long as they do not come against the laws of God. I believe we need to follow the laws of the government in administering the correct duties warranted in the order or finances and obligations of the church to those government agencies. There are things that the law requires that we must maintain in order to keep the church clear of misconception and wrong doings in the eyes of the community and the people within the church. It is my duty as pastor to make sure (in other words), we are up to code or standard, and in compliance with the rules and regulations that govern the church where the government is concerned.
I believe you cannot lead with your head in the sand, unaware and oblivious to those things that are going on around you. As the pastor, I must make a conscience effort to maximize our efficiency for His purposes. I must train and teach those who have been called to positions under my leadership. I must motivate people with a sense of urgency. I must also know what motivators work for individuals and not have the thinking that one motivator work for the entire group I lead. Just as our relationship with Christ is an individual one; so are the things that motivate others. As the pastor, I take this into consideration before I try to motivate people with a group mentality. We are all individuals and we are all wired differently. This is what makes us unique and that is why we are not all motivated within the same scenario. Therefore, I must know the people I lead or I will never know the motivators needed to reach them so they will in turn reach others.
Lastly, I believe it is imperative that I as pastor lead the initiative to have and maintain an organized and effective church structure and a accountable church financial system. I have found that to maintain such structure and systems begins at the top of the leadership ladder. Without the proper emphasis and clear direction from leadership proper structure and systems will not materialize.
As the Pastor, I acknowledge my responsibility to the church as a Sheppard leading by example first, and through the teaching biblical principles. As an assigned minister I recognize my responsibility to:
· Preach the Word
· Equip the congregation to walk in holiness
· Receive members
· Administer sacraments
· To care and comfort for the people of the church and community
· To seek by all means the conversion of sinners, the entire sanctification of the converted.
· To seek a clear understanding of the expectations of the church
